The Sand Club offers girls sand volleyball Mondays through Thursday at two locations: Mesquite Beach and Borrego at Spectrum. Mesquite Beach has Monday and Wednesday training 5-6P or Tuesday and Thursday training 5:30-7P. Borrego at Spectrum has only Tuesday and Thursday training 6:00-7:30P. Both locations offer training for beginner to experienced youth volleyball players all year round in Gilbert. The ages range from 4th 5th & 6th grade girls are on one court to 7th 8th & 9th grade girls on another court and 10th 11th and 12th graders on another court. Advanced players train only Tuesdays and Thursdays. Beginner players will train Mondays and Wednesdays at Mesquite Beach or Tuesdays and Thursdays at Borrego.
Training includes dynamic stretching, corrective exercise, volleyball drills and recovery stretching. All head coaches are USAV certified and cover serving, passing, setting, attacking and/or defensive strategies. Game-like situations are also integrated but parents may register a player as an individual without a partner. Parents are welcome to register their player with other players with the understanding that they will be at the same location but might not play with each other. There are 2 courts at Borrego and 4 courts at Mesquite Beach and players are separated by ages or skill level. Players ages 8-10 may play 4-on-4 but most ages will play 2-on-2. Volleyballs are provided by The Sand Club during training. The only requirement is athletic attire, a towel and a water bottle. There are no bathrooms nor water fountain at the Borrego location, so players and parents should be prepared (there are restrooms at Mesquite Beach). Due to the outdoors, some sessions are cancelled because of rain or extreme temperatures. All cancellations are made-up and the club director will extended out the finish date.
